Steel Bridge Lower Deck Reopens After Electrical Problem

The Portland Bureau of Transportation had thought it would be Wednesday. They finished it earlier.

The lower deck pedestrian and path on the Steel Bridge is back open.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation says it wass an electrical problem that had kept it closed since Monday.

People biking or walking in the waterfront area had been advised to use one of the other Willamette River bridges downtown during the closure. Alternate routes include the Broadway, Burnside and Morrison bridges. The narrower sidewalk on the Steel Bridge's upper deck also remains accessible, though travelers should use caution and expect congestion on the upper deck sidewalks.
