Ted Wheeler got a big boost in his campaign for mayor - the endorsement of The Oregonian.
"Wheeler possesses the leadership qualities Portland needs now so desperately. City voters should elect him," the paper wrote.
The paper praises his experience as a member of the Multnomah County Commission and an elected executive, saying it "will serve him well as Portland's mayor."

While the paper says "the quality of leadership in the mayor's office will improve if Bailey is elected," it says "it will improve dramatically if voters choose Wheeler."
The paper also has some harsh words for Bailey, saying that his campaign has "a quality of desperate pandering."
