An 18-year-old drowned trying to swim across the Clackamas River Wednesday. Officials say he was with two other friends near Estacada. The other two made it safely. By the time rescuers were on scene, the teen had been under for about ten minutes, they say. None of the teens had been wearing a personal flotation device. His body was recovered. The sheriff's office says it is a tragic reminder of the importance of wearing a flotation device.
