It was the day after the school board voted to postpone trying to place a bond measure on the ballot that would have helped fund renovations of several schools including Lincoln and Benson.
While Lincoln students were allowed to walk out in protest, Benson was placed in lockdown and guards were posted outside who told students no one in or out.
The principal of the school and student body president sent a joint letter to the community blaming the situation on miscommunication.
The district superintendent also sent a letter to the communities of the two schools calling the lockout a significant overreaction.
