  1. OHSU has announced that it is pulling its sponsorship for the 2021 Portland Marathon. Citing an "unprecedented influx of patients" and hospitals "at its fullest capacity" OHSU's statement, posted on the website, suggests that sponsoring the marathons would over burden the already overtaxed staff. While holding a race during a COVID surge may seem risky, the website for the Portland Marathon does list extensive COVID restrictions, including proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the race. (KGW)
  2. Today, the City Council of Portland will vote on an emergency resolution that would ban the purchase of goods and services from Texas in response to a new law there prohibiting most abortions. In addition, the resolution would prohibit city employees from traveling to the state. (KPTV)
  3. The strike at the Nabisco factory in North Portland is heating up. The strike began over a contract dispute, which members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union Local 364 claim reduces their pay and weakens their health coverage. Nabisco is firing back with restraining orders and threats about suing the union. (Willamette Week)
  4. An afternoon gun fight was caught on video, in front of one man's NE Portland home. Occurring just hours after a gun fight in the Pearl district injured 3 people, the footage shows a man trying to protect his 2 children. Luckily, other than a car being shot, no injuries have been reported. (KOIN)
  5. COVID-19 has stolen the spotlight for infectious diseases in the Pacific Northwest, but some doctors are alarmed with another infection. Dr. Devon Ebbing, a pediatrician at the Vancouver Clinic, wants parents to know about RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus. RSV and COVID-19 have similar symptoms and both are on the rise in the Portland-Vancouver area. (KATU)
