Thousands Attend Senator Wyden Town Hall in Portland
Calls for special prosecutor to probe Russia connections. Vows to filibuster Gorsuch nomination to Supreme Court if necessary.

"I will take absolutely nothing off the table," Senator Ron Wyden told the thousands who had assembled at his town hall at Portland's David Douglas High School on Saturday. He had been asked what line does President Trump needs to cross before he brings articles of impeachment.

Wyden reminded the crowd that impeachment needs to start in the House of Representatives - the Senate votes on whether or not to convict - before promising he was ready to fight the president.

It was - to say the least - a feisty crowd that wanted answers - and action - from Wyden.
People wanted to know his plans to fight the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court.

His original answer of there needs to be 60 votes for the nomination to go forward wasn't enough for some.
"I will do all I can to oppose this nomination, yes," he finally said after people shouted would he filibuster: yes or no?
Wyden heard from several people concerned about the president's vows to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Wyden said he didn't think Republicans have the votes to do that.
"We are not going back to the days when health care was only for the healthy and wealthy," he told the crowd.
Wyden - a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence - also had questions concerning connections between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence as well as reports of contacts between the White House and the FBI.
He vowed to remain focused on it and told Patch that Attorney General Jeff Sessions - who was a prominent member of the Trump campaign - not only should recuse himself from any investigations - he should appoint a special prosecutor.
