Man Arrested After Eight Hour Standoff Identified

After eight hours and several rounds of tear gas, Portland Police were able to arrest the suspect.

A man wanted on charges of attempted murder, domestic violence, and robbery was arrested by Portland Police after an eight-hour standoff.

The man, identified as Tony Lamont Brown, had fled an attempt to take him into custody by U.S. Marshals when he ran into a home on the 3400 block of Northeast 81st Avenue. He threatened to shoot anyone who entered the house.

The marshals called for help from Portland Police who sent their Crisis Negotiation Team and Special Emergency Response Team to assist.

Traffic on Northeast Fremont Street between 82nd Avenue and 77th Avenue was closed for several hours.

After several hours, Portland Police fired several rounds of tear gas into the house. When the man still refused to surrender, Portland Police entered the house and arrested him.

There were no injuries.

Lamont is charged with attempted murder/domestic violence, robbery, burglary, menacing, and felon in possession of a weapon.
