PORTLAND, OR — An early morning two-alarm fire at an apartment complex Sunday killed two people and displaced 10 adults and 15 children, according to Portland Fire & Rescue officials.
Fire crews first responded to the fire at the Cape Manor apartments, located at 9815 N.E. Glisan St., shortly before 3:30 a.m. July 23, officials said. Upon their arrival, heavy flames were reportedly seen coming from a first-floor apartment, extending to the second floor.
One person initially found inside the burning apartment was taken out by firefighters but could not be revived, officials said. An announcement Monday confirmed a second deceased person was found inside the apartment after crews cleared the fire.
