Two Teens Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop Police Say

Police seized a gun from one of the teens. Both are charged with violating probation.

A traffic stop Friday morning led to two teens under arrest.

Portland Police say that officers tried to stop a car at Southeast 12 and Burnside.

The driver kept going, only stopping five blocks later.

At that point, police say, 15-year-old Charles Crockett fled the car and ran into an apartment full of strangers.

Police were able to talk him out.

When they searched the apartment, they found a loaded handgun.

Crockett was booked into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention home on charges of possession of a firearm, suspected possession of a firearm, burglary, escape, and interfering with a police officer.

The driver, McKeever Thompson, was booked into Multnomah County jail on charges of attempting to elude an officer and interfering with a police officer.

Both are also being held on probation violation,
