PORTLAND, OR — A U-Haul employee reportedly shot and killed an armed robber at the company's Powell Boulevard location in Southeast Portland Wednesday night. The investigation is ongoing.
According to Portland police, 53-year-old Newberg resident Robert Roger Porter came into Boxes Moving in Portland, OR, USA, a U-Haul contractor at 4831 S.E. Powell Blvd., just before 7 p.m. Jan. 3. Armed with a handgun, Porter reportedly demanded money from the store's employee, 27-year-old Tyson Bradley Pfau.
At some point during the robbery, Pfau pulled his own gun and shot Porter, police said. First responders took Porter to hospital where he was pronounced dead as a result of "gunshot wounds," police said.
