University of Portland Entrepreneurs to Showcase Ideas at Weekend Competition

The Franz Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation​'s annual $100K Challenge Venture Competition​ is Saturday, April 29.

PORTLAND, OR – Innovative, entrepreneurial students at the University of Portland will have an opportunity to show off their latest inventions this weekend at the Franz Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation's annual "$100K Challenge Venture Competition" April 29.

According to University of Portland officials, a record 36 teams will compete in this year's challenge, which has historically seen students present ideas such as a virtual farmers market, low glycemic snack bars for diabetics, and new ways to store and charge smart phones, to name a few.

The all-day, free-to-the-public event will be held at the University of Portland, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd., from 9 a.m. to about 4 p.m. in Franz Hall.

Competing entrepreneurs will present their innovations and business marketing plans in three categories: For-Profit Venture, Nonprofit Social Enterprise, and Biomedical, which is new for this year’s competition and will feature the business concepts of three students pursuing the university’s Master of Biomedical Engineering degree.

At the competition, students will hear expert feedback from entrepreneurs in the community, have the opportunity to win cash prizes, and connect with services that could help further their entrepreneurial endeavors.
