Ah, it's blessed Friday! And a day for movie lovers to celebrate. It's M. Night Shyamalan's birthday. How's that for a twist? Okay, maybe I should have saved that for the end. So here's what's going on for today.
First, today's weather: Clouds and possibly (dare I believe it?) rain is on the menu today, with a delightfully low "high" temperature of 74. Awesome!

- Economically, the pandemic has been tough on everyone, which is why the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended the eviction moratorium until October 3. Unfortunately, the Oregon Rental Assistance Program has been slow to help out local renters. (KPTV)
- Just need to park for a minute to pick something up? The Portland Bureau of Transportation has your back. It's rolling out a pilot program to create free five-minute parking zones designed for those picking up and dropping off food and goods, rideshare services, and anyone looking to briefly stop for five minutes or less. - Okay, it's shameless self promotion time. In addition to curating these newsletters, I'm also an artist/painter and this pandemic has been a bit rough in that I haven't had any art shows for a while. That ends tonight, because I'm going to be showing at the Splendorporium in SE Portland tonight as part of their Over The Top show. It's a group show, so I won't be the only one having art there, but I'm just excited to have others see my work. In fact, I'll have paintings up that no one has ever seen before, so I am totes happy about that. If you've got the time, come over and say hello. 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
- The Portland food scene has garnered national acclaim, but one of the reasons for that is the cornucopia of natural ingredients that we in the Pacific Northwest have access to. Chef Cameron Lee Dunlap is going to capitalize on that and open a restaurant dedicated to foraged and wild foods. (Eater PDX)
- Squirrels are amazing. If you don't believe me, check out former NASA engineer Mark Rober's attempt to thwart them from stealing bird seeds with an over the top obstacle course. Squirrels just cannot be stopped! (YouTube)
