Hey, hey, you lovely people out there! There's a spring in my step today, but that's just because my watch fell apart and the pieces went everywhere. Ouch! And one's in my shoe, gosh darn it. I might as well sit down and tell you about today.
First, today's weather: Is fall here already? We know it's still summer, but this cloudy day is going to see a high of only 70. Happy day!

- With the COVID-19 surge showing no sign of slowing, Portland area business are hoping that the county might step in by imposing vaccine mandates. Many bars and restaurants have already warned patrons that entry will require proof of vaccination, but it's a precarious situation asking staff to enforce something that is not the law. (KATU)
- The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public's help and seeking clues in the murder case of 19-year-old Logan Nettleton. On Aug. 30th, 2019, she was found dead of a gunshot wound in an apartment at SE 174th Ave and SE Powell Blvd. A man was also seriously injured in the shooting and a young child was unharmed. (KPTV)
- English ivy beware, there's a new non-profit coming to destroy you! Earth on the Edge is working to eliminate the invasive species in Clackamas County, saying it can kill trees and accelerate climate change. (KGW)
- A state of fear washed over parts of Portland, as reports of a man with a sniper rifle was sighted near the I-205 bike path. The reports were partially correct, as police took the man into custody and discovered it was a pellet gun. The man claimed that he was using it to keep rats out of his tent. The rifle was confiscated and the man released. (Willamette Week)
- As an agency of the city, the Portland Police Bureau is required to submit a yearly report to the Portland City Council and it has just handed in its 2020 report. The department acknowledged some mistakes in its handling of protests, while laying considerable blame on widespread city protests and budget cuts for continuing staffing shortages, slow response times, and poor staff retention. - Portland Bureaus of Transportation and Planning and Sustainability invite you to join Portland Sunday Parkways for virtual Intergenerational Happy Hour Trivia Night. - In partnership with the Portland Street Art Alliance (PSAA), Qatari artist Fatima Al Sharshani will paint a new mural on a building wall located at 636 SE 10th Ave. The featured work, entitled The Never Ending You is an expression of continuity and infinity. The Never Ending You is an abstract piece that merges Arabic letters into a shape of a circle, representing continuity. (The Peninsula Qatar)
