Police Identify Bicyclist Killed by Truck

The district attorney will decide whether or not to bring charges.

Portland Police say that the woman killed as she rode her bicycle Saturday morning was 25-year-old Lydia Ann Johnson. She died from injuries suffered when she and a box truck crashed.

Police say that the driver - 36-year-old Joel Silva - stayed on the scene and cooperated. He showed no signs of impairment.

Police says that Silva and Johnson were traveling eastbound on Flavel Street when Silva turned right to head southbound on 82nd Avenue and struck Johnson on her bicycle.

Emergency responders tried to save the woman's life but were unsuccessful.

The crash happened just before 8:00 Saturday morning.

The case is being turned over to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, which will decide whether or not to bring charges.
