• Salem police chief retires after 5 years leading local agency (salemreporter.com) — Salem’s police chief Trevor Womack is retiring today after five years leading the department through budget crises, crime-reduction efforts, and major policy changes. His tenure saw a new community violence initiative, expanded homeless outreach, more transparency, and a sharp drop in violent crime. An interim chief will guide Salem police while city leaders search for permanent leadership.    

• 3 Salem men accused in February Keizer Station shooting (salemreporter.com) — A Salem family was caught in a February shooting at Keizer Station when their car was mistakenly targeted, leaving the father wounded but recovering after surgery. Police say three Salem men are now in custody or have surrendered, facing assault and weapons charges after coordinated arrests in Salem and an investigation involving both Keizer and Salem officers.
