• 16-year-old arrested after reported handgun assault in southeast Salem (kval.com) — A teenager was arrested after allegedly hitting someone with a handgun in southeast Salem near Church and Bellevue streets, then fleeing toward Pringle Creek before being caught by Salem police. Officers later recovered the gun from a satchel and are still trying to identify the victim, asking anyone with information to contact detectives and reference the listed case number.
• Tear Gas in Salem: Federal Agents, Local Police, and the Coordination Question – WENG 98.1FM, 107.5 FM & 1530 AM (wengradio.com) — Federal agents deployed tear gas in Salem after protesters used their cars to block ICE vehicles, leaving local police saying they had no prior notice or role in the operation. Salem residents reported breathing problems to 911, and fire crews treated people at the scene. The incident is now under investigation by state and federal authorities, raising urgent questions about how closely local police should coordinate with federal immigration enforcement in the city.
