• Longtime disability services nonprofit closes in Springfield (lookouteugene-springfield.com) — A long-established Springfield nonprofit that supported adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities has closed, transferring its group homes in Eugene and Springfield to another provider. Most residents were able to remain in their homes, and more than 100 staff members were hired by the new organization, but the shutdown still marks a major change for local disability services and families in Lane County.
   

• UPDATE Where smoke in Eugene-Springfield is coming from (registerguard.com) — If you noticed haze over Springfield today, officials say smoke from large wildfires near Mt. Hood drifted unexpectedly into the Eugene-Springfield area, pushing air quality into the moderate to unhealthy range. Air regulators expect shifting winds to clear conditions by day's end, but sensitive residents should limit strenuous outdoor activity until the smoke thins.
