📰 News we're reading

• Access to Lower Bridge Way from Highway 97 reopens in Terrebonne (madraspioneer.com) — Drivers in Terrebonne can once again reach Lower Bridge Way directly from Highway 97 now that a $39 million interchange project has wrapped up. The new design adds a full diamond interchange, safer pedestrian crossings, and even mainline infrastructure for a future Terrebonne sewer system, improving access to Crooked River Ranch and easing local traffic disruptions.

• These 130-year-old Central Oregon pioneer apple trees are still bearing fruit (centraloregondaily.com) — Historic pioneer apple orchards near Terrebonne are still producing rare, heirloom fruit after 130 years, and a restoration effort was just celebrated with a ribbon-cutting. Volunteers, arborists, and the Forest Service have been carefully reviving these trees on Crooked River National Grassland, preserving both unique apple varieties and the area’s homesteading history. Access requires high-clearance vehicles on sometimes muddy roads.
