Monday A Big Day For Wilsonville City Council
Final approval of annexation of last part of Villebois marks the end of an era

While there are many residents of Wilsonville who remember when the area now known as Villebois was the Dammasch State Hospital, a mental institution, there are many more who probably have no idea about the site's past.
Even though it was a mental institution for more than 30 years - from 1961 until 1995 when it was demolished - it was a different Wilsonville then.
Now, in large part because of the development of the area that followed, a large portion of Wilsonville's population didn't even arrive until after construction on the 500-acre community began in 2004.

While much of the community is inside the city limits, Wilsonville has been slowly annexing the rest - an acre here, 22 acres there, over the years.
Monday's City Council meeting will involve the second reading and approval of the final acre.
