Pipeline Break Discolors Wilsonville Water, But It Remains Safe To Drink, Officials Say
The break occurred when a fitting failed, officials said, causing rust deposits to break loose into the water stream.

WILSONVILLE, OR — City officials on Tuesday issued a notice to residents that a pipeline break on private property caused nearby households to see a discoloration to their tap water.
The Monday night break occurred on a fire system water-main pipeline near the intersection of Southwest Boberg Road and Southwest Barber Street, officials said, citing a fitting failure as the cause of the break. The discoloration stems from iron deposits being knocked loose from the pipeline's walls, officials said, adding that it remains safe to drink.
While there's no timeline for how long residents can expect their water to be discolored, Utilities Supervisor Jason LaBrie told Patch on Tuesday that breaks like these are "typically short-lived events."
