Public Works Department To Flush Water Lines In June

The annual flushing clears the city's water lines of naturally occurring iron deposits, city officials said.

WILSONVILLE, OR — City officials on Thursday announced the Public Works Department will conduct its annual water lines maintenance throughout June.

Beginning June 1, three phases of water line flushing will take place across the city, officials said. The annual flushing removes naturally occurring mineral deposits from the city's pipes, officials said, noting how the process ensures "optimal water quality for Wilsonville's residents and helps verify operational readiness of hydrants, valves, and blow-off assemblies."

Following each completed phase, residents in the affected area will likely notice a rust-color appear in their water. This is normal, officials said, and shouldn't be considered dangerous. However, running taps for a few minutes and flushing toilets a couple times should clear the water stream, officials said.
