Wilsonville Grants $12,355 To 3 Local Organizations

Wilsonville High School, the I-5 Connection Chorus, and Wilsonville Community Seniors, Inc. all benefitted from this cycle's grant awards.

WILSONVILLE, OR — The city's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on Oct. 12 awarded more than $12,000 in community grants to three local organizations though the Wilsonville Opportunity Grant program, city officials announced last week.

The Opportunity Grant program is meant to help support individuals and organizations in Wilsonville that promote and perpetuate education, art, and diversity, as well as bring city residents young and old together for community activities. With $25,000 general fund dollars available each fiscal year, roughly $12,500 will be dispersed to multiple organizations through two grant cycles.

This cycle's grants, totaling $12,355, were awarded as follows:

  • $7,355 to the Wilsonville Community Seniors, Inc. for support of "Wilsonville Piecemakers, a local sewing group that meets weekly;
  • $3,000 to the Wilsonville High School for an upgraded auditorium lighting system; and
  • $2,000 to the I-5 Connection Chorus for support of the community chorus program.
