Wilsonville Partners With ODOT On I-5 Exit/Wilsonville Road Improvements
The council's approval sets in motion a 3rd road project to improve capacity at the I-5/Wilsonville Road/Boones Ferry Road intersection.

WILSONVILLE, OR — To complete a third project meant to improve traffic congestion in and around Wilsonville, city councilors on Monday approved partnering with the Oregon Department of Transportation on a construction project at Interstate-5 southbound on-ramp Exit 283.
The project, estimated at roughly $700,000, will add a third stacking lane to the on-ramp to increase capacity for vehicles queuing up to enter I-5, specifically during the metro area rush hour. Along with the other two projects, which altogether total about $900,000, will ultimately improve all traffic flow in the area around the I-5/Southwest Wilsonville Road/Southwest Boones Ferry Road interchange.
The city already completed one of the projects by extending the southbound Boones Ferry Road double left-turn lanes heading into eastbound Southwest Wilsonville Road, according to city spokesman Mark Ottenad. The remaining project will see the gateway to the Old Town Square and Fred Meyer shopping area completely restructured to include a second northbound lane on Southwest Boones Ferry Road between the shopping center's entrance and Southwest Wilsonville Road.
