Woman Admits to Burglaries After Breaking into Home

She broke into a house where a 12-year-old boy was home alone. He called his mom. She called 9-1-1.

The 12-year-old boy was alone in his house on Wimbledon Circle on Tuesday afternoon. It was about 2:30 and he could hear someone else.

He quickly called his mom. She called 9-1-1. Police were there in moments.

A neighbor, seeing the police activity, alerted them to a woman hiding behind a bush in his yard. She had just been at his house selling magazine subscriptions.

Police say that she confessed to the burglary. They said that she said she was part of a crew based out of a motel in Wilsonville going door to door to sell subscriptions and burgle houses.

Emely Mercedes Fernandez, 18, was booked into jail on burglary charges.

Later in the evening, Wilsonville Police got a call from someone in the same neighborhood where Fernandez was arrested.

The caller said their house had been burglarized.

An officer went to talk with Fernandez in jail.

She admitted to that burglary as well.
