2 Caught After Gunshots Fired In Cheltenham Apartment Complex
Cheltenham Township Police caught two teenagers after an apartment resident fired shots at them, striking one in both legs.
CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Two teenagers are in custody after gunshots were heard in the Lynnewood Gardens Apartment Complex early Thursday morning, police said.
The Cheltenham Township Police Department said a resident of the complex fired multiple shots at two individuals who were attempting to steal their car at 4:57 a.m. Thursday.
Cheltenham police officers on patrol in the Lynnewood Gardens Apartments heard gunshots and began to investigate. Police then began to receive multiple 911 calls for reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of Mather Way, also in the Lynnewood Gardens Apartment Complex.

One suspect ran away but was apprehended by police after a foot chase.
The juvenile had a stolen handgun, illegally modified to fire fully automatic, police said. The juvenile also had multiple warrants out of Philadelphia for drugs and weapons offenses and was found to have removed their court-ordered ankle monitor.

They were charged with the attempted theft as well as weapons charges and sent to the Montgomery County Youth Center.
Police said the second suspect, a 19-year-old, was found hiding a short distance away and had sustained gunshot wounds to both legs. The suspect was transported for treatment and was discharged.
The suspect is now facing charges with the original attempted theft.
This incident remains under investigation by Cheltenham Detectives, and additional charges may be pending in consultation with the District Attorney’s Office.
