2 Homes Catch Fire In 4 Hours In Abington Twp.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Two house fires were battled over the course of a few hours, fire officials said.

The Roslyn Fire Company responded at 11:45 p.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Monroe Avenue for a house fire. Then, four hours later, firefighters battled another house fire.

Fire officials said that occupants of the first home were able to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived, and no one was home at the second residence.

No firefighters were injured in either incident.

In the first fire late Sunday night, fire crews found a small fire in the basement and quickly extinguished it before it could spread further.

Assisting were the Edge Hill Fire Company, Weldon Fire Company, and Abington Fire Company.

Then, at 3:47 a.m. Monday, the Roslyn Fire Company was dispatched to the 2900 block of Jefferson Avenue in Abington for another reported house fire.

Firefighters found heavy fire coming from the rear of the home.

Assisting on the second incident were Edge Hill Fire Company, Weldon Fire Company, Abington Fire Company, McKinley Fire Company, Jenkintown Volunteer Fire Department, and Glenside Fire Company.
