3 Juveniles Charged In Racist Spray Painting Crime At Abington Park

Abington Police said the suspects were charged for the incident Saturday in which antisemitic and anti-Black remarks were spray painted.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Three juveniles have been charged in the vandalism of a township park in which racist remarks for spray painted throughout the playground, police said.

The Abington Township Police Department charged the three juveniles with ethnic intimidation and criminal mischief for the vandalism incident last Saturday at the Weldon Playground at 2239 Parkdale Avenue in the township's Glenside section.

Police found that the suspects "had spray-painted antisemitic and anti-Black remarks throughout the playground.

"The nature of the graffiti was particularly disturbing, as it targeted members of our community based on their race and religion," police said.

Police did not identify the gender or the age of the juveniles.

"Acts of vandalism are unacceptable under any circumstances, and hateful messages targeting individuals or groups have no place in our community," police said.

On Thursday night, residents gathered at the playground for a ceremony speaking out against hatred and racism.
