A 30-acre parcel has been added to the growing list of farms protected in perpetuity by Montgomery County.

LOWER SALFORD, PA — A 30-acre Lower Salford farm has been added to the growing list of farms protected in perpetuity by Montgomery County.
The Hemsley Farm, which produces hay, is one of six farms in 2017 to be preserved through the Montgomery County Farmland Preservation Program. The program donated $1 million, while Lower Salford Township donated $77,316.
"We are very pleased to be able to use our additional farmland funding and to partner with Lower Salford Township to preserve this 30-acre farm," said Dr. Val Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. "The county recognizes its farming heritage and supports our local farming businesses, which provide healthy, local foods and conserve our prime agricultural soil."
