About 700 Runners Hitting Jenkintown Streets Tuesday

Jenkintown officials expect the runners on borough roads for an hour on Tuesday night for the 32nd annual Jenkintown Sunset 5K Run.

JENKINTOWN, PA —Here come the runners.

Borough officials are reminding drivers and residents of about 600-700 runners expected to be on borough roads for at least an hour for Tuesday night's 32nd annual Jenkintown Sunset 5K Run.

The run begins at 7 p.m. at the Town Square. It is presented by the Jenkintown Kiwanis Club and is a rain-or-shine event, officials said.

Officials are promoting the 32-year Jenkintown tradition along with Jenkintown's 150th Anniversary.

Anyone interested can still sign up to run starting at 5 p.m. at the Day of Registration table. Race packets can be picked up at that time at the Race Packet Pick-Up table.

The race starts at 6:35 p.m. with the free kids dash for those 6 years old and under.

At 7 p.m., the main race begins.

Live music will be provided by Jenkintown's very own Acoustic Keys featuring Lisa Rountree Ridenour and Joe Mahoney at the gazebo from 6-8 p.m. as well as post-race refreshments.

Borough officials said that between 600 and 700 runners will be on the roads from 7- 8 p.m. and ask drivers to be careful of the runners and to anticipate delays.

The runners should all be off the roads by 8 p.m., officials said.
