ABINGTON, PA — Some good news amid all the bad news: Abington School District's music program has once again been honored with a national recognition for excellence.
It's the 13th year in a row that the district's music program has been honored with the NAMM Foundation's prestigious Best Communities for Music Education Award.
The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education, the NAMM Foundation said.

Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an "exceptionally high" commitment to providing access to quality music education.
In order to qualify for the award, schools must provide information regarding funding, graduation requirements, facilities, participation in music classes, and more.

The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas reviews all submissions.
