Abington is home to one of the state’s premier high schools, according to a new study.
Abington Senior High School was ranked 49th in Pennsylvania in a new list released by U.S. News and World Report.
The annual rankings analyze four key metrics for each school: student-to-teacher ratio, average student proficiency in mathematics, average student proficiency in literature, and college readiness score.

The readiness score judges a school’s AP exams and results. This scale was a boost for Abington, which scored a 29.0, above the Pennsylvania average.
Abington, which educates 1,799 students, was also buoyed by a 3.2 proficiency score in mathematics.

The school ranked 1,661st in the nation. Over 21,000 schools from around the United States were included in the report.
The top area school was New Hope-Solebury High School, which ranked second in the state and 210th nationally.
