Abington Junior HS Students Honored by Attorney General For Anti-Drug PSA

Four Abington Junior High School students were honored by PA Attorney General Bruce Beemer for their anti-drug PSA video.

ABINGTON, PA -- Four Abington Junior High School students were honored by PA Attorney General Bruce Beemer for their anti-drug PSA video, the school district announced.

The team of Isabella DiPasquale, Emily Gill, Margaret Hanley, and

Alicia Whisman, led by teacher Beth Nord, beat out more than 30 other teams to win the statewide contest and earn the visit from Beemer.

The contest was a challenge issued by the Office of the Attorney General's Education and Outreach Unit. Students were asked to create an anti-drug message that would resonate with their peers.

Abington's submission, shown below, is 35 seconds long and is filmed in black and white. It shows a student with pills in her hand in the bathroom, contemplating taking them. A voiceover then ominously reads the side effects of many common drugs.

Beemer honored the students during an assembly in the auditorium, and a pizza party was provided for the entire 9th grade class.
