Abington Resident Completes Second Bachelor’s Degree, Headed for Grad School

Abington resident Caron Dessoye, assistant director of Arcadia University’s One Stop Shop, will graduate on May 19 as a member of the Class of 2017 with her second bachelor’s degree, in a subject she’s passionate about, jewelry making.

Already holding a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s in Education, Dessoye began an educational journey six years ago with an introductory course to metals and jewelry making at Abington Arts Center. Two years later, she realized she didn’t merely want to pursue jewelry making as a hobby and enrolled in Arcadia’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metals and Jewelry program.

After Commencement, Dessoye will begin a graduate program in Metals and Jewelry at the University of North Texas.

“Jewelry making has changed my life,” said Dessoye. “You hit a point in your life where you want to do what you love, and if it means going to Texas, that’s fine.”
