Abington Schools To Extend Assistant Superintendent's Tenure
The Abington School Board Tuesday will vote to continue James Melchor's role as the assistant superintendent through 2028.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Abington School District is reaffirming its assistant superintendent Tuesday night if the board votes yes.
James Melchor is on tap to continue his tenure as the district's assistant superintendent.
The Abington School District Board of School Directors Tuesday will vote to continue Melchor's time in the district.

Melchor's contract would begin July 1 and last through June 30, 2028.
His salary is listed at $217,350.

Then on July 1 of every subsequent year, he will earn a 2 percent raise.

Melchor took on the role in November 2018 after serving as the Assistant Director of Curriculum.
Before joining the district, he was an elementary principal and middle school assistant principal in the Owen J. Roberts School District in Pottstown, and a social studies and science teacher at the secondary level in the Delaware Valley School District in Milford.
Melchor holds a Doctorate of Education in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania; Master of Science degrees in educational leadership and educational technology from Wilkes University, and secondary education from the University of Pennsylvania; and a bachelor’s degrees in Biology and History from the University of Pennsylvania.
