Abington Senior High Students Record 'Exceptional Scores'

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Abington Senior High School students achieved "exceptional scores" on the latest round of Advanced Placement Exams administered by the College Board in spring 2026.

This year, 829 high school students took 1,897 AP exams across 32 subjects, ranging from science and math to the humanities and fine arts, school officials said.

Of those, 84 percent of ASHS student test-takers earned a score of 3 or higher on a five-point scale — the score typically required to receive college credit or advanced placement at major colleges and universities.

The average score among all AP Exams administered in ASHS was 3.60.

"The results reflect the District’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and access for all students, in addition to fostering an educational experience centered on the District’s Portrait of a Graduate," school officials said.

Advanced Placement courses follow strict curriculum guidelines authorized by the College Board, offering high school students a preview of college-level academics. Earning high marks on these exams allows ASHS graduates to enter higher education with a competitive edge, often saving time and tuition dollars.

ASHS students’ average scores in the subjects listed below exceeded those of their peers at the state level — and globally — further underscoring the benefits of an Abington School District education, school officials said.
