Two Montgomery County residents who recently returned from Liberia are currently being monitored by health officials for the Ebola virus, officials announced Thursday.
The two, who returned from Liberia on Tuesday, are the first travelers from a West African country the county has monitored for the deadly virus. They are currently not experiencing symptoms and are considered “low risk,” health officials said.
The pair will be monitored daily by Montgomery County Health Department staff until the end of the 21-day incubation period on Nov. 17.
According to the county, health department staff has been working closely with the County Commissioners, the County Department of Public Safety, local hospitals and EMS personnel to ensure that it is prepared for any cases of the disease.
