JENKINTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Borough officials are commending residents for their community efforts in raising money for Legacy Park.

Residents raised $1,304,366 for park improvements, borough officials said.

Borough officials praised residents who moved to the town for the community: to make friends, to become family, to build a village.

They help pick up each other's children, drop off coffee on front porches, share snacks at the playground, and go for group walks to and from school.

These are neighbors who know the names of other children, and their schedules, teachers, favorite books, and foods.

"Fundraising for Legacy Park was no different. In a thousand different, beautiful ways, this community made it happen," borough officials said. "In a town just over one square mile, we raised $1,304,366. And for that, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for all you gave to make this possible."

NEXT STEPS FOR LEGACY PARK

Borough officials said that fundraising for the park's main playground equipment and land work is now closed.

Officials said they will use the $1.3 million raised and work with contractors to build play spaces that reflect what our kids and community have asked for.

If adjustments to the design are needed, officials said they will keep residents informed and continue to make decisions in the surveys completed by students, families, and community members during the 2025–2026 school year.

LOOKING AHEAD

Any future fundraising will support community-driven, DIY enhancements to the park — murals, gathering spaces, and creative play elements — after the core structures are built.

Anyone with thoughts about park plans should send an email to play@jtowndrakes.org.
