ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — With the 2025-2026 school year in the books, the Abington Township Police Department is providing results regarding school bus violations.
Police said over 3,500 school bus violations were recorded during the school year.
Pennsylvania law requires drivers to stop at least 10 feet away from a school bus when its red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended.
The BusPatrol program is designed to protect children as they safely get on and off the bus each day.
Passing a stopped school bus equipped with an automated side stop signal arm enforcement system carries a $300 fine and no points on your license.
"When the stop arm is extended, please stop and help keep our students safe," police said.
