Abington Addressing Canada Geese Issues At Park

The township has a contract to curb the Canada Geese problem at Alvethorpe Park.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The township is trying to address a Canada geese problem that is causing issues at a park.

The township has agreed to a $15,000 contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture on a program to reduce the geese population at the popular park.

The township's Shade Tree Commission one considered goose abatement in 2023.

The program at Alvethorpe Park will use several techniques to reduce aggressive behavior, droppings, and habitat use by overabundant geese in the park.

These tactics are aimed to discourage geese from congregating in areas where they are causing problems, such as golf cart paths and fishing spots.
