ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Donovan family is struggling to make ends meet following a fire that destroyed their home, just weeks before their daughter is heading to college.
A GoFundMe page was launched by Rachel Tremblay on behalf of the Donovan family.
The page has raised over $6,000 of its $20,000 goal.
"Scott, Kat, Lily, and Maribel Donovan are beloved members of our community whose lives were turned upside down by a devastating explosion and house fire," Tremblay said. "We grew up living across from the Donovans, and we have watched them give so much to those around them."
In a matter of moments, their home was destroyed, and they lost nearly all of their belongings, Tremblay said.
"Now, they are facing an unimaginable challenge as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.," she said.
Tremblay said the timing of the tragedy is especially difficult since their daughter is preparing to leave for college in just two weeks.
"Instead of focusing on this exciting milestone, the family is now searching for temporary housing and trying to replace the essentials lost in the fire," Tremblay said. "The funds raised will help the Donovans secure a safe place to stay, purchase basic necessities, and support Lily as she begins her college journey despite these hardships."
