ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — While most schools returned to classes this week, the Abington School District will begin the new year on the day after Labor Day on Tuesday.

This year, the school district has a new theme that's even plastered on shirts for teachers and staff: "All In For All Students: ASD 2026."

School officials said the theme focuses on equity and inclusion.

All ASD teachers and support staff were welcomed back this week with a presentation from keynote speaker Katie Jameson, whose session "Side by Side" provided a comparative look at inclusion through two different lenses in the same education system.

Those lenses were based on her experiences as a mother of twins — one of whom has Down Syndrome and Autism.

Afterward, school teams broke out into reflective circles to discuss what they learned and how it can be applied to their classrooms.

The Montgomery County Department of School Safety and Abington Township Police Department then provided safety and security training to all attendees.
