Barnes & Noble Bookstore Opening In Abington (patch.com) β Abington readers can look forward to a new Barnes & Noble opening Sept. 16 at Noble Town Center in the Jenkintown section, restoring a nearby bookstore option after Willow Grove's closure. The shop joins recently added restaurants and a treatment center in the renovated center, bringing more retail and dining choices along Old York Road.

Abington Bounces Back With A 13-0 Win Against Norristown (pafootballnews.com) β Abington High School's football team bounced back in a big way, shutting out Norristown 13β0 after last week's loss and giving local fans a much-needed lift. Behind touchdowns from Caleb Smith and Kia Taylor and key defensive adjustments by younger players, the Ghosts controlled the game and now turn their focus to next week's matchup with Council Rock North.

Sine Timore Theatre Company to host multiple performances of 'Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic' in September (glensidelocal.com) β A theater company based in Abington Township is putting on multiple performances of the Harry Potter parody play "Puffs" at Cheltenham Center for the Arts later this month, with shows September 18β20. Residents can expect a fast-paced, PG-13-ish comedy, a costume contest for wizard-themed outfits, and an accessible, nostalgia-filled night out just minutes from home.

An Issue Where Josh Shapiro and Stacy Garrity Agree: Ban Flock Cameras (politicspa.com) β Abington Township's Board of Commissioners recently voted to replace the police department's Flock Safety camera system with a platform that limits data sharing, putting your hometown in the middle of a statewide privacy debate. Both major gubernatorial candidates now say they support banning or tightly regulating these automated license plate readers, as lawmakers across Pennsylvania wrangle over how much surveillance is acceptable.
