• Penn State Abington, Arcadia University Start New Year (patch.com) — Students are back on campus at Penn State Abington and nearby Arcadia University, bringing renewed energy to Old York Road and Easton Road. New and returning students moved in with help from staff and athletes, while Penn State Abington's chancellor joined families in lighthearted games to kick off the academic year.
• SPS Technologies Settles Lawsuit Over Massive Fire (patch.com) — Residents and business owners in Abington affected by the massive 2025 SPS Technologies fire may soon receive compensation through a proposed $5 million class action settlement fund. If approved by the court, eligible businesses could claim up to $5,000 and homeowners up to $500 for documented losses, while the company proceeds with building a smaller aerospace facility on Highland Avenue.
• Abington is trying to break its 2028 contract with Flock amid data concerns, police chief says (inquirer.com) — Abington Township is moving to end its contract with Flock Safety's license plate readers over data-sharing concerns and has approved a new Axon camera system with tighter local control. Police and commissioners are drafting new surveillance policies, including 30‑day data retention, audit requirements, and limits on sharing information with outside agencies, which could affect how local investigations are conducted.
