Former PA State Police Officer Joins Abington School District

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A former Pennsylvania State Trooper, who served for 25 years, has joined the Abington School District as a school police officer.

Mark Dooling was approved at the Abington School Board's Sept. 15 meeting to serve as a school police officer.

School officials said that while Dooling will serve in this capacity primarily at the elementary level, he will also engage in safety and security efforts across the district.

Dooling served for 25 years as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, 15 of which were spent as a supervising corporal.

The school board approved the appointment of:

• Amanda Klein as Supervisor of Special Education at Abington Senior High School. Klein brings more than 20 years of experience in education, most recently serving as the Supervisor of Special Education in the School District of Borough of Morrisville.

Meanwhile, the school board awarded contracts to:

• Abington Transportation, LLC (Abington Trans), for contracted student transportation services for the five-year period of the 2027-2028, 2028-2029, 2029-2030, 2030-2031, and 2031-2032 school years.
• GTM Landscaping, Inc., for softball field improvements at Abington Middle School.

Additionally, the Board retroactively awarded contracts to:

• Siemens Industry, Inc., for HVAC Control Services for the period of October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2029.
• Trane USA, Inc., for repair of the domestic hot water heat exchanger that produces hot water for the Middle School.
• Facilities Management Express, LLC (FMX), for the one-year renewal of Facilities Management Software.
