Abington Receives 'A' School District Ranking (patch.com) — Families in Abington Township can celebrate as Abington School District earned an overall A rating in Niche's new 2027 Best School Districts rankings, placing 51st among more than 100 Pennsylvania districts. The district scored A grades for academics and teachers, strong marks for activities, diversity, and college prep, and slightly lower ratings for sports, administration, food, and especially resources and facilities.
2. Abington Center School Workshop Offers Parents Practical ADHD Strategies Oct. 7 (montco.today) — Parents in Abington can attend a free ADHD workshop at Center School on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m., open to the public. The session, led by ADHD specialist Lydia Cooper, will share practical, immediately usable strategies for supporting children's learning and executive-function challenges, while also explaining how ADHD affects motivation and daily routines at home.
3. 5 smoke shops in greater Glenside among those charged with illegal sale of THC products in county-wide investigation (glensidelocal.com) — Abington residents should know that Abington Smoke Shop Inc. on Old York Road and Eagle Smoke and Convenience Shop on Susquehanna Road are among 46 Montgomery County businesses charged with illegally selling THC products. County detectives say they bought high-potency THC items during a countywide investigation, and each business now faces felony charges, with preliminary hearings scheduled for November 9.
4. Jefferson Abington Colleague Leads School Supply Drive For Families Impacted By Cancer (dailyvoice.com) — Families in and around Abington facing cancer are getting a boost from a Jefferson Abington Hospital-led school supply drive that helped more than 20 families start the school year prepared. Organized through Elkins Park's Breathing Room Foundation, the effort drew donations from multiple Jefferson hospitals and was inspired by a nurse's own experience losing her mother to cancer.
