CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners are reacting to the fatal shooting of a Walmart worker.
Township officials released a statement on Monday expressing their "shock and sadness and condemns in no uncertain terms the tragic and senseless murder" of Latosha Ann Cooper.
Cooper was shot and killed after working her shift at the Walmart in Cedarbrook Plaza in the late hours of Oct. 21 allegedly by the man who once worked with her and was in a romantic relationship with her before it faltered.
"Our deepest condolences go out to Ms. Cooper's family and the Walmart family of employees as they grieve this loss," the statement read.
Destino Jean-Louis, 23, of Philadelphia, was arrested on Monday in the fatal shooting of 45-year-old Latosha Ann Cooper last Wednesday in the parking lot of Walmart in Cheltenham, authorities said.
Township officials commended Police Chief Richard Schaffer and members of the Cheltenham Township Police Department who worked over the past few days to gather evidence to make an arrest.
"The Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners is committed to ensuring that our Township remains a safe, peaceful, and welcoming community," Board President Matthew Areman said.
