JENKINTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Hometown hero Bradley Cooper has directed a new movie for release this holiday season.
"Is This Thing On?" will premiere on Christmas Eve at the nonprofit Hiway Theater — at his request.
The movie will have a nationwide release in January. Tickets and showtimes to "Is This Thing On?" are available now at hiwaytheater.org

The Abington Township native's latest directorial effort follows a middle-aged couple – Alex (Will Arnett) and Tess (Laura Dern) – who are dealing with an impending divorce.
Alex takes the unraveling of his life as an opportunity to dive into stand-up comedy, where he uses his life experience as his comedy material.

The star-studded cast features Cooper, Arnett, Dern, Andra Day, Amy Sedaris, Christine Ebersole, Sean Hayes, and even former NFL star Peyton Manning.
Cooper, a big Philadelphia Eagles fan who appears at most home games, has strong ties to Pennsylvania.
He was born in Abington, and grew up in Jenkintown and Rydal.
Cooper attended the Germantown Academy, graduating in 1993. He also attended Villanova University for one year before transferring to Georgetown University, where he studied English and minored in French.
He then rose to fame in the "Hangover" series, in the television series "Alias," and as the bad boyfriend in "Wedding Crashers" before shooting to superstardom.
Cooper has been nominated for 12 Academy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award.
He has appeared on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list three times and on Time's list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2015.
His films have grossed $13 billion worldwide, and he has been placed in annual rankings of the world's highest-paid actors four times.
Cooper has starred in "Silver Linings Playbook," "American Hustle," "American Sniper," as Rocket in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with Lady Gaga in a remake of "A Star is Born."
More recently, Cooper has produced the thrillers "Joker" and "Nightmare Alley" and co-wrote and directed the biographical drama Maestro (2023), in which he also starred as Leonard Bernstein.
