The Breathing Room Foundation Receives A Grant From Green Tree Community Health Foundation
Green Tree Community Health Foundation Asists Local Cancer Patients and Their Families
The Breathing Room Foundation, Jenkintown, has received a $3,000.00 grant from the Green Tree Community Health Foundation in support of their Giving Hope Program. Announcement of the grant was made by Susan Hansen, Ph.D., President and CEO of the Foundation, on behalf of the Board of Trustees on November 23, 2015.
Mary Ellen Fitzgerald, executive director, The Breathing Room Foundation, said the funds would be used to provide financial support toward the payment of bills, purchase of uncovered medical needs, and transportation costs to and from treatment to area cancer patients. This program was started in 1997 by Diane and Bernie Fitzgerald as a way to say “thank you” for the many gifts they received during Diane’s six-year battle with cancer.
“This year, we saw a 37% increase in the need to provide transportation to and from chemotherapy,” said Fitzgerald. “This funding will allow us to assist close to fifteen more cancer patients with transportation to and from lifesaving treatments.”
