Burglars Hit Abington Homes, Police Offer Safety And Protection Tips
Police said, since Monday, at least two home — one in Rydal and another in Jenkintown — were broken into and had items stolen from them.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Abington Township are offering home burglary prevention tips after two recent residential break-ins.
Police said since Monday, two home break-ins in the township have been reported.
One occurred on the 1000 block of Devon Road in Rydal and another on the 1000 block of Squirrel Road in Jenkintown.

Police said the suspects got in through an unlocked door in one instance and through a broken window in the other.
Both break-ins occurred when the homeowners were not home for a short period of time during the day, police said.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents or who believes they may have seen something is asked to call Abington Police Detectives at 267-536-1100, and select option 4.
Police remind residents to lock their doors when possible.
Additionally, police recommend residents make homes appear occupied by parking cars in driveways, setting lights on timers, or leaving a television on.
Another tip offered up was to collect mail and trash and recycling bins quickly.
Lastly, police recommended residents submit an "Away Home Notification" form to police when residents plan to be away from their homes for extended periods of time.
