The resident said they heard a noise at a downstairs window at 5 a.m. in August, and police who responded found the window's rear slider pried off of its track and the screen tossed aside. There were no cars in the driveway, and no lights on inside, appearing as if no one was home.
Police believed the resident scared the suspect off.
"Although there is no direct evidence linking these two incidents, the similarities warrant consideration," police said. "As a result, we encourage all residents in the area to be alert for suspicious activity. When possible, set alarms, leave a light on, consider exterior motion lights, and contact police promptly if you see anything unusual. Abington Police will be directing additional police resources to this neighborhood during the overnight hours."
Residents in the area who may have video cameras are asked to review footage overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.
